OSINT - In Conversation with Bellingcat
In this session, we had the opportunity to hear from Elliot Higgins, the CEO of bellingcat, who provided valuable insights into Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) strategies. He discussed the methodologies employed by Bellingcat, as well as addressed the growing challenge of misinformation and its profound impact on society.
Cybersecurity Panel
We had the privilege of hosting Dr. Melanie Garson, Head of Cyber Research at the Tony Blair Institute, alongside Dr. Monica Kello from King’s, for an insightful discussion on the future of cybersecurity in the era of artificial intelligence. The conversation delved into the evolving landscape of cybersecurity challenges.
Visit to the International Institute of Strategic Studies
In collaboration with The London Forum for Middle East Affairs, a group of War Studies Society members had the chance to hear from John Raine, the Senior Adviser for Geopolitical Due diligence and Emile Hokayem, the Director of Regional Security and Senior Fellow for Middle East Security on the current developments in the Middle East Conflict.
Spring Ball 2024- Imperial War Museum
Hosted within the Imperial War Museum, the Society celebrated the end of a very successful year with an open bar, dancing underneath aircraft’s and taking tours of the exhibits after hours!
Swiss Embassy Visit
This event provided a unique opportunity to hear from the Swiss Ambassador to the UK, who shared insights into the ‘Swiss style’ of diplomacy. The discussion highlighted Switzerland’s role as a global conflict mediator and its commitment to fostering communication and peaceful resolutions on the international stage.
